Junior Girl Scout Badge Project: Ceramics and Clay We will work with each troop individually to complete as many of the badge requirements needed. Pick and choose which elements your troop would like to study and work on in our studio.
We will have raw clay available, and the necessary tools for each Girls Scout to make a pinch pot, ceramic tile, wind chime or hanging ornamental decoration. *Cost: $12 per person, includes 1 finished project, studio time, kiln firing and paint for project. Project will require more than one visit to complete
We will have raw clay available and the necessary tools for each scout to make a functional piece of pottery using the coil and pinch method. This project would be best if combined with the Make It with Clay project. Cost: $4 additional per student if combined with the Make It with Clay project. $12 per person if done separately. Includes 1 finished project, studio time, kiln firing and paint for project. Project will require more than one visit to complete.
Learn How to handle clay with care. Instructor will give demonstration on the proper handling and care of raw clay material. Cost: Free with any other project.
Decorate one of our pre-made bisque tiles using stamps, patterns, graffito (decorating on clay by scratching to the surface below) Instructor will show samples of various decorating techniques using common household items including a toothbrush, a paper clip, stickers, soap, sponges and other items. Cost: $8 per person, includes 1 finished tile, studio time, and kiln firing of project
Visit Art As You Like It and get a tour of the studio, including the kiln room and short information on how the kiln works. Also have an opportunity to talk with instructor about opening a business and working in the creative arts fields
Decorate bisque ware (fired and unglazed ceramic clay) Ceramic items would include a Plate, bowl, or mugs. Cost: $13 per person--includes 1 finished bisque item, kiln firing, paint and use of studio materials
Instructor can lecture on examples of folk pottery from museum photographs. Instructor can give information about different cultural arts including Africa, Asia, Central America and United States. Cost: Free when combined with any other project

Using raw low fire earthenware clay, create sculptures. Several sculpture projects to choose from Cost: $12 per student, includes 1 finished project, firing, glaze and studio fee. (Will require two visits to complete project)
Learn about the art of master Sculptors. See pictures of sculpture. Short lecture can be used as lead in to Mold It class or Negative and Positives class Cost: Free when combined with any other class.
Create a three-dimensional sculptural object using common household items, including cardboard, Styrofoam, newspaper, wallpaper paste and miscellaneous sculptural items Cost: $10 per student, includes 1 finished project, materials provided.
Learn about three-dimensional art in your community. Cost: Free when combined with any other class.
We will talk about sculptural art through a cultural perspective and look at examples of different heritages. Based on the lecture create a three dimensional art piece using elements from the lecture. Cost: $10 per student includes 1 finished project, materials provided
Create a hanging ceramic mobile using pre selected items of bisque. Paint and decorate and assemble Cost: $20 per student, includes 1 finished project, materials provided
Work with a number of different colored wires and other materials to create a wire sculpture. Cost: $10 per student, includes 1 finished project, materials provided |
